Washington, D.C. — There is a great deal of resentment about the federal government, which is often described as the epitome of government waste.
But, for many Americans, there is a deep sense that they are also entitled to be treated fairly by government, according to a survey of postal service workers conducted last week.
The survey by The Post and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) found that nearly two-thirds of workers feel that they do not receive fair treatment by the government, and that many feel that their jobs are not safe and the government is not protecting them.
“I don’t believe we have a right to a government that is protecting us,” said Chris Burt, 54, who works in a warehouse that supplies paper products and paper to retailers.
“I don to be able to send a message that I’m going to go somewhere and be treated with dignity and respect, even though that is not true.”
The survey was conducted by the Public Religion Research Institute (PRRI) in partnership with the Pew Research Center and the Center for American Progress.
The results are based on interviews with nearly 1,000 postal service employees nationwide, with the margin of error being plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
The Postal Service, which represents more than 5 million U.S. Postal Service employees, receives billions of dollars in federal funding annually and relies on federal subsidies for about 90 percent of its mail and mail-based mail delivery.
The federal government also has a large and growing presence in many rural areas, where the Postal Service is not only the largest mail carrier but also serves millions of rural residents.
Some employees have expressed frustration with the federal Postal Service for being slow to act on issues like sexual harassment and racial bias, while others have complained about long waits at postal offices.
But even those who are dissatisfied with the service also acknowledge that the federal postal service has been responsive in addressing issues, like addressing the backlog of letters sent and the inability to provide services to those who were denied them.
Some of the workers interviewed said they believe the federal service should be more responsive, including by sending out letters, providing better notice and more direct service to people in need.
However, many others said that the Postal Services current level of responsiveness is not good enough.
They also said that many of the services they receive are inadequate and often have little or no information about what they need.
They also say that the postal services ability to provide the services needed in rural areas is not being adequately supported, and they fear that the USPS will have to shut down its rural operations to meet the growing needs.
For example, they said that in some rural areas the mail service has not been able to deliver to residents who were previously denied service, and are also worried that the service might be shut down due to lack of funding.
“We’re really struggling to get a handle on the number of letters that we’re getting,” said James, a postal worker from Texas.
“It’s not enough.
We have to send more letters to the people that need it.”
Another employee said that his office receives a lot of mail and it is very slow because of the lack of a dedicated mail carrier.
The USPS has a limited mail carrier that is able to serve people in rural communities, but he said that it is not enough to provide mail and letters.
“There is a backlog in the mail that is going to take a while to clear, and we don’t have a dedicated carrier that can deliver it,” said Joe, a Texas postal worker.
“We need a dedicated, public carrier.
We need a government carrier that we can rely on.”
